Body
With a 6.5 mm crochet hook and bulky weight yarn
Rnd 1: Working into a Magic Circle, sc 6, pull ring tight, sl st in first stitch to join. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to join. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st*, rep * to * around, sl st to join. (18 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st*, rep * to * around, sl st to join. (24 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, bo in each st around, sl st to join.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc around, sl st to join.

Fasten off leaving a 4” (10 cm) tail, weave in.
Eyes (make 2)
With a 5.0 mm crochet hook
Rnd 1: With Black and working into a Magic Circle, sc 6, pull ring tight, sl st in first stitch to join. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: Change to Gold. Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to join. (12 sts)

Fasten off leaving a 6” / 12.5 cm tail to attach eyes to the body.
Line up the bottom of the eye with the last bo rnd of the body. Sew the eye to the body with a whip stitch. Rep for second eye. (See Photo)
Beak
With a 5.0 mm crochet hook
Row 1: Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch and across, turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc, sk 1, sc, turn. (2 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc2tog. (1 sts)
Fasten off leaving a 4” / 10 cm tail to attach beak to body.
Sew beak onto body just below and between the eyes. (See photo above)
Wings (make 2)
With a 6.5 mm crochet hook and bulky weight yarn
Rnd 1: Working into a Magic Circle, sc 6, pull ring tight, sl st in first stitch to join. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the first 3 sts, 2 sc in each of the last 3 sts, sl st to join. (12 sts)
Row 3: Ch 2, [dc in first st, 2 dc in next st] three times, ch 2, turn. Leave remaining sts unworked. (9 sts)
Row 4: Ch 2, sk 1st st, fpdc in each st across, turn. (8 sts)
Row 5: Ch 2, sk 1st st, bpdc across, turn. (7 sts)
Row 6: Ch 2, sk 1st st, fpdc across, turn. (6 sts)
Fasten off leaving a 6” / 12.5 cm tail to attach wings to the body.
Attach top of wing at the sc rnd between the last 2 bo rnds of the body. Whip stitch the top of the wing to the body leaving the rest of the wing loose.
Fringe on ears
Cut 12 pieces of yarn 5” / 12.5 cm in length.
Insert hook into the st at the top of the ear. Fold 2 pieces of yarn over the hook and pull through a loop, use the hook to grab the ends of the yarn and pull them through the loop. Pull tight to secure. Rep in 2 more sts on same ear. (3 fringe on ear). Repeat for second ear. Trim to desired length.
