Assembling
Line up the back edge of the nose to the front edge of the hat. Secure the nose to the hat using the tail and a large needle. (See pictures)

Flip hat over so the back of the hat is facing up and line up with the back of the body. (The back of the body is the shorter side) Secure the hat to the body with a mattress stitch. When you get to the front, secure into the hat leaving the nose loose. When you have 8 stitches left, stuff body and hat with fiber-fil. Finish closing, weave in ends.

Flip over, fill nose with Fiber-fil and secure to tan part of body.

To make the beard, cut 40 – 45 pieces of white yarn 7” in length. Attach the yarn into the tan part of the body with a crochet hook. (See pictures) I do 3 rows on either side of the nose working into the space between the stitches, and then into the posts of the stitches for a full beard.
Under the nose, I do two rows. One into the tan, and one into the top of the main color.

Once you have all of the yarn attached you will comb out the beard. (If you used a fuzzy yarn you can skip this step)
Hold the yarn in your hand and working from the bottom of the strands begin combing the yarn to separate the ply. As the yarn separates you can move up to another section doing about 1” at a time. If needed you can use your large needle to separate the yarn at the top.

Once the beard is combed out trim length to bottom of gnome.
Embellish hat with a pom and buttons if desired.
