About the Star Garland Free Crochet Pattern

The perfect addition to your nursery or child's room, a baby shower, or make it in Red, White, and Blue for the 4th of July, the Little Star Garland Free Crochet Pattern For Beginners is an easy and charming project. After creating the Little Star Baby Rattle, I knew I wanted to make a few other star items to go with it, and this garland is the next item in that set. This garland measures 54" in length, and each star is 6.5" across, making it a lovely decoration for various occasions.

How to crochet a star garland?

My garland is made with a soft cotton for a smooth and sturdy look that matches the baby rattle, but feel free to substitute any medium weight (4) yarn. This free pattern includes a detailed tutorial on how to crochet each star and attach tassels, providing beginners with an easy and fun project to create a festive bunting for Christmas, parties, and other celebrations. Follow the simple steps in the PDF guide, and you'll learn how to make a beautiful star garland that will brighten up any space.

Garland Tassels

Make 4

Tassels are 5.5” length

I used a DVD case to make my tassels.

Turn the case sideways and wrap the yarn around the case 25 times.

Slip off of case and tie a 12” piece of yarn 1” from the top. I used a large hook to hold my loops.

Cut the bottom loops of the tassel and steam, or use a hair dryer on high to remove the wrinkles in the yarn and trim straight.

Insert a 12” piece of yarn through the top loops and tie a knot leaving approximately ½” loop. Using a needle pull the ends of the strand through the center of the tassel and trim to length.

Banner Strand:

With 2 strands of yarn and a 5.0mm hook

Leaving a 10” beginning tail, Make a Slip knot, SC into the top loop of the first tassel, (insert hook into the top loop, Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook). Chain 25, SC into the top loop of the first star, *CH 25, SC into the top loop of tassel, CH25, SC into the top loop of star*, repeat from * to *, CH 25, SC into top loop of last tassel. F/O leaving a 10” tail at the end.

Use tails to tie banner to hang.
