How to Crochet a heart?
This free heart crochet pattern is perfect for beginners! It’s the easiest little amigurumi heart ever, and my step-by-step tutorial will show you exactly how to make one.
It’s made using just single crochet stitches, simple increases and decreases, and is worked in the round (don’t forget to use a stitch marker to keep track).
I used Hobbii Honey Bunny yarn in Candy Floss and a Hint of Pink, a 5.5mm (I) crochet hook, and just a small amount of yarn—this is a great stash buster for leftover yarn! You’ll also need a little fiber-fill to stuff your mini heart.
Plus, this little crochet heart is a very low-sew project. If you want to turn it into a cute ornament, I’ve also included a quick tutorial to add a hanging loop.
About the yarn
To make my hearts, I used Hobbii Honey Bunny, a weight (6) super bulky yarn in Candy Floss and Hint of Pink.

Supplies:
- US I / 5.5mm Crochet hook
- Weight (6) super bulky yarn (approx 20 yds per heart)

Hobbii Honey Bunny, weight (6) super bulky, 100% Polyester, 131 yards / 120 meters (3.5 oz / 100 g) per skein. Pattern requires approx 20 yds per heart.

Finished Size:
5” / 12.5 cm tall by 3.5”/ 9 cm wide at widest point.
Abbreviations (US Terms):
- ch: chain
- inc: increase (2 sc in the same st)
- rep: repeat
- sc: single crochet
- sc2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together (see special sts for an invisible decrease)
- sk: skip
- st(s): stitch(es)

Stuff Base
Top: side one
Rnd 1: Sc 6, ch 1, sk 12 sts, sc 6. (12 sc, 1 ch-1 sp)

Add stuffing
Rnd 5: sc2tog 5 times, FO leaving a long tail. (5)
Add stuffing if needed. Thread the tail onto a tapestry needle and weave through remaining sts. Pull tight to close, weave in end.
Reattach yarn in the first skipped st from Rnd 1 Side one with a sl st.

Cut a piece of yarn approx. 6” in length and thread onto a tapestry needle. Seam center of heart closed. Weave in ends.
Optional Hanging Loop
If you want to hang your heart, cut a piece of yarn 14” in length and thread onto a needle. Insert needle into the center top of the heart and pull half way through. Tie a knot in the ends of the yarn, and pull the knot to the inside of the heart hiding the knot and the ends.
