About the yarn
To make the Round About Crossbody purse you’ll need both worsted and bulky weight yarns in two colors. The crochet crossbody purse in photos below were completed in Hobby Lobby I Love this Chunky Heathered Denim with Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn Sungold for the Color Panel.
I have also used Loops and Threads Charisma Yarn and Bernat Beyond Yarn for the body of the purse and both have worked up beautifully.

Front Panel:
With Bulky Yarn a 10 mm hook
Round 1 (RS): Work 5 sc into a Magic Circle, pull tight, do not join. (5 sts)
Round 2: Work sc inc in each st around. (10 sts)
Round 3: *3 dc in the same st, ch 1, sk 1; repeat pattern from * around. (15 sts)
Round 4: Sc in each st and ch-1 sp around (20 sts)

Set aside, do not cut yarn.
Pocket:
With Worsted weight yarn and a 6 mm J hook
Row 1: Ch 16, sc in 2nd ch and across, turn. (15 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc across, turn.
Rows 4 – 11: Repeat Rows 2 – 3.
Fasten off.
Whip stitch pocket to the Front side of the color panel with the live loop at the TOP of the panel.
Assembling:
Lay the Front Panel WS up and place the Color Panel with pocket facing up on top of the Front Panel with the live loop at the top of your work. Insert 10 mm hook into the loop, and sl st the two panels together all the way around.
Fasten off.
Count 10 sts from the top center in both directions and place a stitch marker. (20 sts between markers)
Lay the Back panel on top of the color panel with the RS facing up. Reattach Bulky yarn in the marked st to the left of center, placing hook through ALL THREE panels.
Sl st around the bottom of the purse to the second marker, sl st 10 into BACK PANEL ONLY, ch 21, sl st into last 10 stitches of BACK PANEL ONLY, Fasten off. (60 sts, 21 chs)
Strap:
With Bulky yarn and a 6 mm J hook
Row 1: Ch 125, sc in 2nd ch and across, turn. (124 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc across.
Fasten off.
Place stitch marker into 6th stitch from either end.
Attach strap to inside of purse:
Place the end of the strap inside of purse and attach with a whip stitch up to the stitch marker.
Attach a button in to the center of the front panel. Enjoy your purse as is, or add poms or tassels.
Poms:
I use the Clover Pom Maker for poms and made 2 poms. One in the color panel color and the other in white.
Ch 20, wrap around the strap and SLST into the first chain. Fasten off. Attach poms to chain using a scrap piece of yarn in the color of the pom.
Tassels:
Cut multiple pieces of yarn 10” in length. I made 36. Using 2 strands per tassel, follow photos for how to attach.
This pattern has been more frustrating than any other I have attempted to date. So many rounds trying to figure out why my stitch counts were sometimes coming out wrong. Trying to figure out how the stich count increases between rows were even mathematically possible. And you know what the problem was? The parts to repeat are specified in italics and I could not see the difference between that and reguar text while reading the words it says
