About the Star Catcher Beanie Knitting Pattern

I had the privilege of working with Hobbii Yarn to create a knitting pattern around the theme 'To the Moon and Back', and after some contemplating I decided that a knit beanie was the perfect project. A knitted beanie is like a hug on your head, and everyone wears them, from babies all the way up to adults. So I set out to design a beanie knitting pattern that would work for all ages and the Star Catcher Beanie was created.

Since I set out to design a beanie that would fit just about any head, I graded this beanie knitting pattern to 6 sizes from 6 months up to large adult. With such a wide range of sizes, you could create family knitted beanies and have each one in it's own unique colorway.

I instantly knew that I wanted to use the star stitch for the knitted beanie, not only because the name is perfect for the theme, but because it creates such a beautiful texture. I love that the stars spiral around the hat in diagonal lines.

About the yarn

Once I chose the knit stitch for the beanie, it was time to chose the yarn. For my sample, the main color of the body is worked in Hobbii Universe XL yarn, This beautiful yarn caught my eye right off the bat! The color changes and the sparkle thread just worked for the outer space theme I was going for, and the DK weight yarn is perfect for a knitted beanie with texture. I chose the colorway Voyager, but there are 25 other great colors available in this yarn, so if Voyager isn't the one for you, I am sure you will find one you like!

For the beanie's ribbed brim, I chose to use a coordinating solid color without the sparkle so it would be soft against a delicate head. I used Kind Feather in the color Beige. If you choose to do a solid color brim, you have a lot of colors to chose from in Kind Feather.
