Gauge:

Each square is 6” x 6” (15 cm x 15 cm)
When first square is complete, block and check gauge.
If square is too small, increase hook size. If square is too big, decrease hook size.

Notes:

• Blanket body is made up of individual squares that are seamed together to form the main part of the blanket.
• Squares are worked in joined rounds.
• Once squares are complete, steam or wet block them before joining for the cleanest join.
• Squares are joined in back loops only of each side and corner stitch using a tapestry needle and a piece of yarn.
• Once all squares are seamed the edging of the blanket is crocheted directly onto the body of the blanket. The edging adds 3” (7.5 cm) to the width and the length of the blanket. (1.5” (4 cm) per side). This is already calculated in the size chart.
• When blanket is complete, wet or steam block entire blanket again for best results.

Rnd 1: Working into a magic circle, sc 6, pull tight, sl st in first st to join. (6 sts)

Fasten off.

Block squares before seaming for the cleanest look.

• If wet blocking, soak squares in a tub of warm water with a small amount of fabric soap. Let set for 5 to 10 minutes, rinse well, and gently squeeze (do not wring) out excess water. Pin squares to measurements listed in gauge and let dry before assembling.
• To steam block pin squares to measurements listed in gauge and use a steamer or iron with a steam setting and gently steam the squares holding the steamer or iron above the squares without touching them. Let cool before unpinning.

Assembly:

Lay out squares with WS facing to form the body of the blanket with 4 squares across and 5 squares down. With a piece of yarn and a tapestry needle seam the squares together inserting the needle under the back loop (this loop is closest to you since you are on the WS) of each stitch. Do not seam too tightly or your seams will not lay flat and the squares will pucker. Stop and double check as you work to make sure stitches are lined up and squares are lying flat.

Once all squares are secure, flip blanket to RS to proceed to the edging.

Edging:

Attach yarn in any corner ch-2 sp with a sl st.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 *sc in corner, sc across square to next square corner**, sc in corner, ch 1, sk seam; rep from * across all squares to last seam, rep * to **, (sc, ch 2, sc) in blanket corner; rep stitch pattern around entire blanket to last corner, sc, ch 2, sl st to first sc to join.  (34 sc per square, 1 ch-1 sp per seam)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc, ch 3, sk 2; rep across square** to ch-1 sp at seam, sc in seam; rep from * to last seam; rep from * to ** to blanket corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep stitch pattern around to last blanket corner, sc, ch 2, sl st to first st to join. (11 ch-2 sps per square)

Rnd 3: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 1, *sc in ch-3 sp, 6 dc in next ch-3 sp**; rep across to sc at seam, 6 dc in sc at seam***, rep * to *** to last seam, rep * to ** to last ch-3 sp before blanket corner, sc in ch-3 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep stitch pattern around, sl st to first st to join.
